Arusha National Park

Discover the little-known Arusha National Park, only 32 km from Arusha town. Lion and elephant are absent from these habitats, though leopard and spotted hyenas have been seen at dusk and dawn.

Watch black and white Colobus and Sykes monkeys , colorful trogons and turacos in the montane forest, warthog and herds of buffalo on the wide floor of Ngurdoto Crater and giraffe, waterbuck, zebra and dik-dik around the tranquil Momella Lakes.

Climb Mount Meru, its peaks and eastern foothills rising from within Arusha Park. Walk with an armed ranger among the grassy hills, paddle a canoe on the lakes; there is much to do and to see in this multi-faceted gem of a park.

View Kilimanjaro from Meru during the months of December through February. Game drives and walks in the park are good all year round and can be done as one- or half-day trips.
