Lake
Manyara National Park
Safari Highlights:
Marvel
at Lake Manyara, a small jewel
surrounded by the walls of the Great
Rift Valley escarpment. Manyara has
large herds of buffalo and elephant
as well as giraffe, warthogs, lion
and the elusive leopard.
Enter through a lush groundwater
forest where baboons, vervet & blue
monkeys abound; journey on into open
woodlands, grasslands, swamps and
the soda lake itself.
Wonder at this awesome lake which
covers 200 sq. kms and is a
sanctuary for over 400 species of
birdlife, the most numerous being
flamingo, pelican, sacred ibis,
storks, Egyptian geese and
cormorants. Spot shy dik-diks,
mongoose and herds of impala
together with Manyara’s famous
tree-climbing lions in the
surrounding acacia woodland.
Appreciate spectacular birdlife and
search for klipspringers on the
rocks above the steaming, bubbling
hot springs in the far south of the
park.
Discover Lake Manyara National Park,
located 80 miles west of Arusha and
close to the ethnically diverse
market town of Mto wa Mbu (Africat’s
second home).
Experience the magic of
Manyara, accessible all year round;
the wet season months are best for
bird watching, observing the waterfalls and
canoeing. Other activities (outside
the park) include cultural tours,
mountain biking, abseiling and
forest walks on the escarpment.
Enjoy
the comfort of your nights on safari
with AFRICAT, in
Lodges & Camps,
both within and outside the parks.
For following the great migration,
we use mobile camps, which enable us
to stay very close to the herds.
During cultural tours you may camp
in a village or spend a night in a
local, traditional house.
