and Safaris in & around the Great Rift Valley area as well
as the Mt. Kilimanjaro summit, slopes and surroundings
Africat Adventures, a New York based Safari and adventure
outfitter organizes travelers to visit Tanzania and East
Africa. ( Gogo Trails Tanzania overland operator) . Where MESO-Multi-Environmental
Society and (CTP) -Mto-wa-Mbu Cultural Tourism Programme are non-profit organization based in Arusha,Tanzaia that promotes environment conservation,
community based Eco-cultural tourism working for 20
years to improve the quality of individual and community
life, protect and conserve the environment in which they
live.
Both Africat Adventures, Gogo Trails Tanzania Limited, MESO & CTP work on a number of
projects and activities throughout Tanzania. Some generate
income which is re-invested in the organization; others
offer services which support community development.
Among other activities, these organizations arrange
excursions to natural and cultural attractions in and around
the Great Rift Valley area (e.g., Karatu, Mbulu, Ngorongoro
- Lake Natron, Oldonyo Lengai, Lake Eyasi,
and Monduli/Mto wa Mbu). In Kilimanjaro we organize
Mountain climbing and Eco-cultural tours of Marangu sites. The
eco-tours serve as an alternative choice or addition to
traditional park safaris.
The program's main focus is to promote environmental and
social responsibility, while providing the opportunity to
visit natural sites and learn about local culture and
tradition. In addition to this, we offer the opportunity to
participate in village home stays or rest house, allowing
tourists to penetrate the lives of local individuals and
observe numerous aspects of daily life in rural areas.
The trips offered can also be organized together with
traditional wildlife safaris in nearby Ngorongoro,
Serengeti, Lake Manyara and Tarangire, as well as with
excursions to the Bagamoyo coast and Zanzibar.

Accommodation Services
Accommodations are very flexible. In general, tourists have
the option of camping, staying in guesthouses, or living in
homestays with local families. In some places, namely Karatu,
Mto wa Mbu and Moshi town in Kilimanjaro, more luxurious
accommodation can be arranged at the safari lodges.
For self-caterers, food supplies can be purchased in Arusha
or at markets in other major towns. Local food is cheap and
widely available (meat and vegetarian options). Lunch is
usually arranged as a picnic affair when visiting
destinations. Bottled water, as well as cold and hot drinks,
are available in all towns and destinations.

farm, guesthouse), Self catering holiday homes and
apartments, Campsite, Eco-lodge.
Sustainability Aspects
Eco-cultural tours offered are structured in such a way that
environmental impact is minimized and the conservation of
valuable resources is of primary concern. Furthermore they
aim to re-establish natural areas and further provide
visitors with information to help preserve and protect these
areas for generations to come.
This process is facilitated through experienced guides who
have acquired in-depth knowledge concerning the indigenous
wildlife and landforms that exist in these areas.
Surplus income generated through those programs is
distributed among local residents to improve their economic
power, or is re-invested into the organization to develop
and maintain these programs.
