MOMELLA GATE - MIRIAKAMBA HUT (8,100 FT)
Venture up  Mt Meru with an armed ranger, crossing open plains filled with giraffe and buffalo before climbing up through montane forest, loud with the calls of hornbills and colobus monkeys to Miriakamba Hut on the rim of Meru crater.

MIRIAKAMBA HUT - SADDLE HUT (11,480 FT)
Admire the sunrise over Kilimanjaro before walking into Meru crater for a foot safari in the primeval landscape and towering 200 ft walls that lead up to the summit. Continue climbing via Little Meru outcrop to Saddle Hut on the ridge that leads up to Socialist Peak.

SADDLE HUT - SUMMIT (15,000 FT) - MIRIAKAMBA HUT
Grab a quick snack at midnight before  starting up the sometimes narrow ridge which falls away to the crater below. Socialist Peak is reached as the sun rises. A descent down this same ridge takes you past Saddle Hut and on to Miriakamba Hut for a leisurely dinner and a welcome rest.

MIRIAKAMBA HUT - PARK GATE
Bid farewell to Meru this morning as you make your final descent, reaching the park gate before lunchtime.

Discover the natural wonder of Ngorongoro as you wend your way up to your lodge or campsite on the Crater rim.

CRATER TOUR - NGORONGORO
Descend to the Crater floor this morning for game viewing and lunch at the Hippo Pool picnic site. Late afternoon ascend to the Crater rim for overnight.

ARUSHA AIRPORT - ZANZIBAR AIRPORT - STONE TOWN
Take flight from Arusha Airport to Zanzibar. You will be met on arrival and transferred to the old Stone Town for a day of discovery in the winding, cobbled streets of this ancient town, steeped in history. Lunch, dinner and overnight at the hotel of your choice in Stone Town.

STONE TOWN - EAST COAST
Anticipate, during your drive to the East Coast, three full days of sheer pleasure at the beach. For the still-active traveler there are many activities to engage in, from snorkeling, diving, swimming with dolphins and deep-sea fishing to cycling along the miles of white sand or taking a spice tour through the plantations upon which Zanzibar’s heritage was built.
