Designed
especially for birders, these tours are
guided by a well-known Arusha-based
ornithologist, James Wolstencroft. Tanzania
is a birdwatcher’s dream, with diversity
unrivalled in Africa.
Any of the northern reserves are recommended
for these tours; Arusha and Lake Manyara
parks are both excellent for forest and
water birds; the Serengeti and Tarangire for
birds of prey, cranes, bustards together
with acacia and grassland species.
To the east, Mkomazi Game Reserve holds a
wealth of dry country specialities, whilst
the legendary Usambara Mountains, and in
particular Amani Nature Reserve, support a
world-famous rain forest community including
many endemic species.
Enjoy the comfort of your nights on safari
with AFRICAT, in
Lodges & Camps,
both within and outside the parks. For
following the great migration, we use mobile
camps, which enable us to stay very close to
the herds. During cultural tours you may
camp in a village or spend a night in a
local, traditional house.
